Access to technology is a necessity for our students to succeed, and you can help a student to reach their academic goals. Virtual education has become the new normal at Cal Poly Pomona, across California and the country. Our students are resilient and understand that their education will provide them an opportunity for a better future. But owning a laptop or having reliable access to the internet can be a financial struggle for some students and not having access to these resources will prevent them from reaching their full potential.
In spring 2020, Cal Poly Pomona transitioned 5,000 classes to a virtual learning environment during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Faculty and staff received additional training to teach and work remotely, and students without computers borrowed laptops from the university.
In preparation for fall 2020, Cal Poly Pomona surveyed incoming first-year and transfer students to identify their needs. More than 400 students said they do not have reliable access to a computer or other technology.
We are seeking the support from our most trusted partners to help ensure that every Cal Poly Pomona student has the tools they need to pursue their education. Your gift will provide students with the ability to obtain a laptop and a Wi-Fi hotspot device through the Bronco Bookstore, allowing them to stay on the path to success as they learn from home.
Thank you for your gift!
