Baja SAE is an intercollegiate engineering design competition for undergraduate and graduate students organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE). The object of the competition is to simulate real-world engineering design projects and their related challenges. Each team is competing to have its design accepted for manufacturing by a fictitious firm. The students must function as a team to design, build, test, promote, and compete with their vehicle within the limits of the rules. They must also generate financial support for the project, all while managing their educational priorities.
As with all ambitious projects, our budget significantly determines what we can achieve as a team. Assessing the feasibility of innovative ideas involves not just their manufacturing aspects but also our club's financial capacity to explore new approaches. While we strive to incorporate fresh ideas and reduce the overall cost of our vehicle to enhance its competitive appeal, we encourage students to think creatively and fully engage, even if some ideas cannot be realized. Your donations play a crucial role in providing students with the platform to actually pursue these ideas and elevate Bronco Racing to new heights.
A $25 donation helps us purchase some basic hardware, e.g., nuts, bolts, tabs, pins, and shims.
A $100 donation helps us purchase more costly hardware, e.g., bearings, brake pads, seals, and collars.
A $500 donation helps us cover material and operational costs, e.g., pedals, steering wheel, vehicle panels, calipers, and cases.
A $1,000 donation helps us cover material and operational costs, e.g., uprights, shocks, tires and rims, hubs, and chassis tubing.
A $10,000 donation helps us cover material and operational costs, as well as travel expenses for our nationwide competitions, e.g., hotel, transportation, and the full annual cost for a subsystem.
