Help us purchase a class set of trail cameras for students to study wildlife!

In Fall 2021, the CPP Wild project began as an educational initiative to improve awareness of wildlife and environmental literacy in our non-majors biology classrooms. The students participate in a research experience where they get to ask questions about CPP's wildlife that call Voorhis Preserve (our on-campus preserve) their home. Using photos from trail cameras and through a community science platform called Zooniverse, students get to identify the wildlife they see in the photos. Using the dataset they

Zooniverse platform interface used by students to identify wildlife in trail camera photos.generate, they get to ask and answer questions of their interest on any species captured or groups of species of their choosing. Students have the opportunity to step foot on the preserve and witness some of the trail cameras in action!

How many students will be impacted?

To date, CPP Wild has impacted over 3,000 students, reaching over 500 per semester!

How will your donation help?

With every semester, we try to improve on this experience and one thing that has been lacking is the hands-on experience with trail cameras. As a polytechnic, we are trying to make this happen! With your support, we can purchase a class set of trail cameras for students to practice with in the classroom and give them an immersive, polytechnic experience.
