You are invited to assist Cal Poly Pomona students in accomplishing a true “learn-by doing” project while also contributing to a scholarship benefiting communication students in need.
Students in the Department of Communication's Event Planning Class (COM 4446) have the opportunity to plan, produce, and execute a major event. This semester students are planning our annual Alumni Night event for communication graduates on Saturday, November 16th at Kellogg West Conference Center and Hotel.
In the spirit of Cal Poly Pomona’s “learn-by-doing” philosophy, the course affords students the opportunity to learn about concepts and theories relating to event planning while also gaining hands-on experience with budgeting, fundraising, operations, scheduling, program management, hospitality, volunteerism, and philanthropy. The course is designed to help prepare students for careers in public relations, communications, multimedia journalism, hospitality, and more.
The event allows communication alumni to reconnect with the university and it gives students the chance to network with graduates of Cal Poly Pomona’s Department of Communication and establish connections that could lead to future career opportunities.
Funds raised by the event will benefit communication students for years to come. Proceeds from the event will help fund The Legacy Scholarship for communication students.
