Our Story
As advisors in the CLASS Student Success Center, we meet many talented and dedicated students who hesitate to participate in their commencement ceremony due to the cost of their cap and gown. Through candid conversations, we've learned that this financial barrier prevents them from celebrating their achievements. Recognizing the need for action, we felt compelled to address this issue, motivated by our deep commitment to our students' success and well-being. This inspired us to launch a program that provides graduation caps and gowns, allowing students to celebrate and experience their graduation ceremony.
About the Grant
The Cap and Gown Grant Program supports graduating seniors within the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences who face financial challenges. This funding will help cover the cost of their cap and gown for the Spring 2025 commencement ceremony. We will select one undergraduate student from each of our twelve departments, and we aim to secure additional funding to extend this opportunity to even more students.
