Who Are We

The Cal Poly Pomona Timber Strong Design-Build Team consists of undergraduate engineering students who work together to plan, design, fabricate and build an artistically creative 2-story wood light-framed building that is sustainable, aesthetically pleasing, and structurally durable. Though this is a new competition added to ASCE's PSWS, it is an opportunity for young students to implement what we have learned and gain experience.

With regionals approaching, we need your support more than ever. We want to establish a legacy for CPP Timber Strong Design-Build and we have pride and confidence that we can reach great heights but are in dire need of funding. If you would like to support us on this momentous journey, please consider pledging your support!

The Cal Poly Pomona Timber Strong Design-Build Team will compete in regionals!! This year's competition is a Pilot competition meaning that if we get 1st place we will go to Nationals. We want to start a new legacy for CPP Timber Strong Design-Build. ONE that is on the same level as Steel Bridge and Concrete Canoe, and we can make that possible with your help.

Project Manager's Message

To our alumni, family, friends, and future donors,

My name is Daniel Ortega-Telles, this year’s project manager for Cal Poly Pomona Timber Strong Design-Build. I am here to reach out and ask for your support in funding our project.

I was part of the 2021-2022 Timber Strong team in which throughout the year we faced many difficulties from time constraints, lack of members, lack of tools, and the greatest factor, material costs. Now that I am in the position of project manager for this year's team I have made it my goal to complete this project efficiently while being able to provide the team with the necessary tools and equipment needed to achieve first place.

With the prices of nearly everything rising it has resulted in costs that we cannot afford. From being part of the 2021-2022 Timber Strong team I saw that what the team owned was very little. We had to borrow tools from relatives which in some cases were not the in best condition for use. The costs of materials derailed the schedule because were scrambling trying to find ways to pay for it. Transporting the project also affected us due to renting a trailer and the cost of gas prices. All of these expenses we want to afford but as students, it is almost impossible. All we ask if you are able to make a donation please donate. Every dollar counts and if you are not able to make a donation please spread the word!!!
