Broncos Athletics 2020

Hello Broncos Nation!

While we recognize these are unprecedented and challenging times, we are equally encouraged about our best and brightest Bronco student-athletes.  While we are not currently in competition and monitoring state guidance for our safe return to play, we are still coaching, mentoring and engaging our student-athletes in ways we have not done in the past.

Going into the 2020-2021 academic year, our committed scholarship support for student-athletes was at an all-time high of over $1,075,000+.  Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics is honoring every single athletic grant-in-aid promised to every student-athlete. 

Bronco Athletics will also be honoring athletic grant-in-aid for the 2021-2022 academic year.  Your support will continue to assist our current Broncos in a time of great need. 

We are committed to the continued academic and athletic success of our student-athletes.  Just last spring, as we transitioned to remote instruction in mid-March, our resilient Broncos achieved the greatest single semester cumulative grade point average in department history by posting a 3.35 spring 2020 grade point average.  All teams had team grade point averages above a 3.0, except one, which had a 2.94.  Despite having seasons ended by the COVID-19 pandemic, our combined overall win-loss record was 88-51-6 (64% winning percentage) and our combined CCAA win-loss record of team sports was 67-30-4 (70% winning percentage).

The fall and spring sports teams qualified 7 of 8 teams for CCAA and/or NCAA post-season competition and the 3 spring sports were also on-track to qualify for post-season playoffs.  It was an absolutely successful year only to be abruptly halted by the global pandemic. 

This past year, we were also focused on improving our practice and competition facilities.  Scolinos Field saw the completion of the Phase 2 renovation (new backstop and netting system, internal fencing, new Tifway 419 Bermuda natural grass playing surface and new entire field warning track).  Kellogg Stadium saw the installation of a new Bandara Bermuda natural grass playing surface.  Inside Kellogg Arena, the floor was completely sanded down and a new center court logo was added.
