2020-2021 Cal Poly Pomona Steel Bridge

September 21, 2020

Steel Bridge has been working diligently since this summer, our design leads have spent over 400 hours designing on bridge for the new competition year! Right now, as we await confirmation for a physical competition, we have been working on our Supplemental competition that consists of three categories: design, analysis, and construction sequence. As well as a presentation video that will cover all the information from the report. We plan on focusing on both the physical and supplemental competition while we prepare for the fabrication of the new bridge.

2020-2021 Cal Poly Pomona Concrete Canoe

September 20, 2020

This year, the team is collaborating virtually to design a prototype canoe that can be constructed by a future team. We have decided to go with a theme called Koi Poly which will tell the story of a koi fish heading upstream to become a dragon. The newest component of the competition this year is a submittal called "Enhanced Focus Areas" which serve the purpose of adding value to the Technical Proposal. Unlike previous years, the scoring will be divided into Technical Proposal (35%), Enhanced Focus Areas (30%), Technical Presentation (25%), and On-Site Competition (10% if held). We plan on uniting with former concrete canoe team members to support us with the competition's theme of "Persistence in the Face of Adversity".
