National Collegiate Landscape Competition Team Fund

**Update: Due to rising concerns with COVID-19, the 2020 National Collegiate Landscape Competition has unfortunately been cancelled. Beginning 3/13/20, all donations will be used for future competition teams. If you gave before 3/13, please expect to hear from us soon.**

The National Collegiate Landscape Competition is an annual three-day powerhouse event which brings together the top landscape and horticulture students, top industry companies and dozens of the biggest industry manufacturers and suppliers. Each year more than 800 students from two- and four-year colleges demonstrate their skills in real-world, competitive events and network with top companies at the largest Career Fair in the industry.

The event itself is three days. We include two additional days to travel to and from the competition. We also hope to visit a local site of interest to allow our students to experience new opportunities that they would not have in sunny southern California!

$8

Hats

Our students are REQUIRED to have and wear their Calpoly GREEN hat so that they stand out-at the Competition site we are a sea of Calpoly Green. (It also helps to find students at the Airports!). Your donation for this level will provide one student with their required hat.

$15

Student meals

Most of the students meals are covered by the competition participation. A few meals, however, are not. The students are often on very tight budgets. This extra amount to cover meals helps to defray their personal expenses during the trip

$22

Dress shirt

Our students are required to wear team shirts during competition activities. In Michigan we Californians will be pretty challenged to stay warm. Our team is purchasing a long-sleeved collared shirt for each member to help them defend against the cold Michigan spring weather! Your donation at the level listed will pay for one students shirt. Our team has 30 members.

$30

Tools

Our students require a number of specialized tools for use during their competitions from weighted sharpshooter digging spades to reinforced work gloves, climbing gear for Arboriculture to warm socks for Michigan. Your donation at this level will help provide much needed equipment, tools and gear for out students.

$75

Van Rentals

We must transport 30 students from campus to airport, from airport to conference, and around the conference from location to location. In order to accomplish this we need to rent five 5-7 person vans for six days. The cost for these are averaging $150.00 per day. Your donation will fund one half-day for one vehicle.

$160

Accommodations

Students are expected to share rooms in order to be as cost efficient as possible. The cost of hotel rooms selected by Calpoly, Pomona's advisor team are those that are the most economical, within proximity to the competition site, and have amenities such as free breakfasts to reduce our costs. Each room cost is approximately 160.00 per night (double occupancy). In addition the faculty advisors require rooms as well. A total of 19 rooms are required. The event lasts five days or a total requirement for rooms of $15,200.00. Your donation of $160.00 will pay for two students for one night at the conference venue.

$500

Travel expenses

While we recognize that only very rare supporters will be able to fund the full amount of travel from California to Michigan, every penny helps defray these travel costs. With airlines charging all manner of (bag etc) fees, any help that can be applied towards funding travel would be greatly appreciated. The full cost of the average round trip for a student or advisor is $500.00. You may donate the full amount, or part of the amount, to help the team all travel together from one airport location to our destination and back.

$1,500

Full student sponsorship

In total, we anticipate the total costs for each student to travel and compete in NCLC to be $1,500
