FY22 Balloon Launch Assessment Directive for Everyone (BLADE)

For this upcoming year, BLADE is going to expand the program to over 50 new students that make up a total of 7 teams. Each team will design their own balloon-satellite and conduct a unique scientific investigation or technology test of their choosing. If their mission design and balloon-satellite are mature enough, BLADE will fully fund the development and testing of their system and will also fund their flight to complete their mission.

We want the BLADE program to continue for several years and seek to establish it as a permanent program at Cal Poly Pomona. We recognize all the opportunities and benefits this program has provided to several students and the opportunities it will continue to bring as the program grows.

However, to continue building balloon-satellites, conducting missions in the upper atmosphere, and providing students with significant opportunities, we seek support in the form of funding to allow BLADE to pursue these objectives.
